only one-third of young adults have a credit card, in response to a Bankrate survey. It’s partly due to concerns about debt.
A startup known as Zero thinks it has a solution to this and it’s gearing as much as launch a credit card that features like a debit card. The startup is also raising $ 8.5 million in a funding circular led by means of ENIAC Ventures, including participation from NEA, Lightbank and others.
With the Zerocard, “you don’t must be anxious about going and paying or bill-tracking that on a daily groundwork,” talked about founder and CEO Bryce Galen. The company is offering an app that updates in precise-time with deposits, purchases, transfers and the web balance available for viewing appropriate away. There’s “no possibility of getting into lengthy-term debt because you all the time recognize that you’ve received the funds you’re spending.”
Yet it also may have the perks of a bank card. as a result of Zerocard tactics on bank card networks, it makes it easier to pay valued clientele a consistent money lower back expense between one and three percent, for all purchases.
users can raise their cash lower back percentage by way of referring shoppers or assembly spending requirements. the card hasn’t launched yet, but the startup claims they’ve delivered a hundred and fifty,000 americans to the wait listing, partially because of the incentives to refer new company. It’s set to launch in 2018.
but this isn’t appropriate with existing bank bills. in its place, people will need to check in for a new checking account with Zero and its undisclosed partner financial institution.
Zero says that the bank it’s working with is FDIC-insured and Galen insists that it has “structured the product very cautiously with the intention to be absolutely compliant with all rules and regulations.”
primarily, says Galen, “we’re in a position to supply people better economics and a far better consumer event than natural banks.”
Zero is headquartered in San Francisco and has 12 personnel.
